Rapture

/ˈræptʃər/ noun

Rapture is a feeling of intense joy or delight, as if you are carried away by happiness. In some Christian beliefs, the Rapture (capital R) is the event when believers are taken up to heaven.

It comes from Medieval Latin “raptura,” meaning “seizure, carrying off,” from Latin “rapere,” meaning “to seize or snatch.” The sense of emotional transport grew from the idea of being carried away from ordinary life.
