Reluctance

/rɪˈlʌktəns/ noun

A feeling of not wanting to do something, or being slow and unwilling to act.

From Latin *reluctari* “to struggle against, resist,” from *re-* “back” and *luctari* “to wrestle.” The idea of wrestling against something turned into the emotional resistance we call reluctance.
