Rhinoceros

/raɪˈnɑː.sə.rəs/ noun

A rhinoceros is a large, heavy animal with thick skin and one or two horns on its nose, found mostly in Africa and Asia. Many species of rhinoceros are endangered due to hunting and habitat loss.

From Latin *rhinoceros*, from Greek *rhinokerōs*, from *rhīs, rhinos* “nose” + *keras* “horn.” The name literally means “nose-horn.”
