Scheme

A scheme is a plan or system for doing something; it can be neutral or positive, but sometimes it suggests a secret or dishonest plan.

From Latin “schema,” from Greek “skhēma” meaning “form, plan, figure.” In British English it stayed more neutral, while in American English it often took on a negative sense of trickery.
