Sector

/ˈsɛktər/ noun

A sector is a specific part or area of a larger system, such as part of an economy, a circle, or a city.

From Latin “sector” meaning “a cutter,” from “secare” meaning “to cut.” In geometry it came to mean a “slice” of a circle, and from there a “slice” of society or industry.
