Stairs

Stairs are a series of steps that allow people to walk up or down between different levels of a building or area. They often include a handrail for safety.

Plural of “stair,” from Old English “stǣger,” from Proto-Germanic roots related to climbing. The plural form came to be used for the whole structure of many steps together.
