Strawberry

A small, red, sweet fruit with tiny seeds on its surface and a leafy top.

From Old English “streawberige,” possibly from “streaw” (straw) because the plants were mulched with straw or the fruits seem ‘strewn’ on the ground. The exact origin is debated but very old.
