Symmetry

/ˈsɪmɪtri/ noun

A balanced arrangement of parts on opposite sides of a line, plane, or center — the pattern of sameness that appears throughout nature and mathematics.

From Greek symmetria (agreement in dimensions), from syn- (together) + metron (measure). The same root gives us meter, metric, and geometry. Symmetry is what happens when measurements agree with each other.
