Time

/taɪm/ noun

The continuous passing of moments in which events happen, measured in seconds, minutes, hours, and so on. It can also mean a particular moment or period, or how long something lasts.

From Old English 'tīma' meaning 'limited space of time, season, lifetime.' It is related to Old Norse 'tími' and German 'Zeit.' The root idea is a stretch or portion of existence, which later developed into the abstract concept we measure with clocks.
