Touchscreen

A display that can detect when and where you touch it, allowing you to control a device by tapping or swiping on the screen.

It combines 'touch' (from Old French 'toucher') and 'screen' (from Middle Dutch 'scherm', meaning 'shield'). The compound became common in the late 20th century with the rise of digital devices.
