Absinthian

/æbˈsɪnθiən/ adjective

Definition

Relating to or characteristic of absinthe; having the qualities, flavor, or cultural associations of absinthe.

Etymology

From absinth (from Latin absinthium) + -ian (suffix forming adjectives of relation or belonging). Similar formation to Promethean or Aristotelian, but applied to the liquor.

Kelly Says

The 'absinthian experience' was highly ritualized—drinkers would use special slotted spoons and absinthe fountains, slowly dripping iced water into the spirit to release the full flavor, making it a theatrical social event.
