Definition
The quality or state of being accurate; the degree to which something is precise and free from errors.
Etymology
From accurate (Latin accuratus) plus the suffix -ness, which forms abstract nouns. This suffix has Germanic roots and has been used in English since Old English times to convert adjectives into nouns.
Kelly Says
Unlike 'accuracy' which was borrowed directly from Latin, 'accurateness' shows how English speakers loved making their own versions of words using the -ness suffix—it's the Anglo-Saxon way of saying the same thing!
