Adamantine

/ˌædəˈmæntaɪn/ adjective

Definition

Unbreakable; impervious to persuasion; diamond-like in hardness and brilliance.

Etymology

From Greek 'adamantinos,' from 'adamas' (unconquerable) — 'a-' (not) + 'daman' (to tame). The word 'diamond' comes from the same root. Also: 'adamantium' in X-Men was inspired by this.

Kelly Says

This is where Wolverine's ADAMANTIUM comes from! The Greek root means 'untameable' — and it also gave us the word 'diamond!' When your will is adamantine, NOTHING can break you! 💎⚔️
