Ahead

/əˈhɛd/ adverb

Definition

Ahead means in front, either in space, time, or progress. It can describe physical position, future moments, or being more advanced than others.

Etymology

From Middle English phrase *on ahead* or *in ahead*, built on *head* meaning “front, top, leading part.” The idea is of something at the ‘head’ or front of a line or path.

Kelly Says

When you say “work ahead,” you’re picturing time as a road, with your tasks waiting in front of you. Being “ahead of your time” literally imagines you standing further down that road than everyone else.
