Definition
Relating to or characteristic of the Albian stage of the Cretaceous geological period, lasting from about 125 to 113 million years ago.
Etymology
From the Albian stage, named after Albi, a town in southern France where rocks of this age were first identified and studied. The geological terminology became standardized in the 19th century.
Kelly Says
The Albian period was when flowering plants were just beginning to diversify and spread across the world—before this, all plants were non-flowering. Dinosaurs during the Albian were at their peak diversity, right before the asteroid impact!
