Definition
To align is to put things into a straight line or correct position, or to bring ideas, actions, or people into agreement. It can be physical alignment or mental and social alignment.
Etymology
From French *aligner* “to line up,” from *à ligne* “to the line,” based on Latin *linea* “line.” It started as a very literal, visual term.
Kelly Says
Align is about lines—literally lining things up so they point the same way. When people or goals are ‘aligned,’ it means their invisible lines of intention are all pointing in the same direction too.
