Definition
Relating to or derived from the allantois, the embryonic membrane that helps form the umbilical cord and placenta in mammals.
Etymology
From allantois + -ic (adjective suffix). The allantois itself is from Greek allos (other) + -eid (form), originally describing the sausage-like shape of this membrane.
