Allonomous

/æˈlɒnəməs/ adjective

Definition

Governed or determined by external or foreign laws; not self-governing.

Etymology

From Greek 'allo-' (other) + 'nomos' (law). Opposite of 'autonomous,' this term emerged in political philosophy to describe entities subject to external authority.

Kelly Says

Allonomous regions are the opposite of free—they're ruled by someone else's laws. It's the political science term for places that don't get to make their own rules.
