Definition
Any beetle belonging to the family Anthribidae, typically small wood-boring beetles with a distinctively flattened body shape.
Etymology
From Anthribidae (the family name), derived from Greek anthos 'flower' + rhynchos 'snout', referring to the flower-feeding habits and snout-like mouth parts of these beetles.
Kelly Says
Anthribids are masters of disguise in the wood—their snouts let them bore into wood crevices and even into seeds, where they develop protected from predators. Some species actually help spread seeds through the forest!
