Antihistorical

/ˌæntiˌhɪˈstɔrɪkəl/ adjective

Definition

Opposed to or contradicting history; rejecting historical accuracy or ignoring the actual events and context of the past.

Etymology

From anti- (against) + historical. 'History' comes from Greek 'historia' (inquiry, narrative). The anti- prefix creates an opposition to historical truth or methods.

Kelly Says

When someone denies well-documented historical events, they're being antihistorical—it's becoming a bigger problem in our digital age where false narratives can spread faster than corrections.
