Etymology
From anti- (against) + mythic (relating to myth, from Greek mythos meaning 'word,' 'story,' or 'narrative'). The -ic suffix forms adjectives from nouns.

Modern antimythic thinking tries to strip myths down to 'what really happened,' but anthropologists now understand that myths aren't failed history—they're how humans encode values, fears, and wisdom that can't be captured in literal facts.
