A person who opposes theology or formal religious study and doctrine.
Etymology
From anti- (against) + theologian (a scholar of theology). This rare term emerged among rationalist and secular thinkers who rejected organized religious scholarship.

While a theologian spends their life studying what God and religion mean, an antitheologian would argue that studying theology itself is misguided—it's not just disagreeing about answers, but questioning whether the questions matter.
