Apolline

/ˈæp.əl.aɪn/ adjective

Definition

Relating to Apollo, the Greek god of music, poetry, prophecy, and the sun; having qualities associated with Apollo.

Etymology

From Apollo, the Greco-Roman deity, with the English adjective suffix '-ine.' Used since at least the Renaissance to describe Apollo-like qualities of harmony, beauty, and artistic perfection.

Kelly Says

Apollo represents everything orderly and rational in Greek mythology—his opposite, Dionysus, represents chaos and intoxication, so Western culture has been wrestling with these 'Apolline vs. Dionysian' energies for centuries!
