Definition

A person who experiences little or no sexual attraction to others, or organisms that reproduce without combining genetic material from two parents.

Etymology

From Greek 'a-' (without) and Latin 'sexualis' (relating to sex). The identity meaning became common in the 2000s with internet communities; biological meaning from the 1800s.

Kelly Says

An estimated 1% of humans are asexual, and many asexual people have fulfilling romantic relationships—it's a reminder that love and romance exist on a spectrum totally separate from sexual desire.
