Boar

/bɔr/ noun

Definition

A wild pig with a bristly coat and prominent tusks, native to forests of Europe, Asia, and North Africa. Also refers to an uncastrated male domestic pig.

Etymology

From Old English 'bār', related to Old High German 'bēr' and Latin 'aper'. The word has remained remarkably stable across Germanic languages for over a millennium.

Kelly Says

Wild boars are surprisingly intelligent and can run up to 30 mph despite weighing up to 700 pounds! They're considered one of the most dangerous animals to hunt because of their unpredictable charging behavior and razor-sharp tusks.
