Definition
In a manner that is boiling or resembles boiling; with intense heat, agitation, or turbulent motion.
Etymology
Formed from 'boiling' (present participle of 'boil') with the adverbial suffix '-ly' (from Old English 'lice'). A regular English formation that converts adjectives to adverbs.
Kelly Says
Adverbs ending in '-ingly' are relatively rare in English—'boilingly' is unusual because it stacks two suffixes (-ing plus -ly), making it poetic and slightly archaic, which is probably why you see it more in literary writing than everyday speech.
