Bolivian

/bəˈlɪviən/ adjective

Definition

Relating to or characteristic of Bolivia or its people. Of or from the South American country Bolivia.

Etymology

Named after Simón Bolívar, the Venezuelan military and political leader who liberated much of South America from Spanish rule in the early 19th century. The country was originally called República Bolívar before becoming Bolivia in 1825.

Kelly Says

Bolivia is one of only two landlocked countries in South America, and it's named after a Venezuelan liberator who never actually governed the territory. The country has two capital cities - La Paz (administrative) and Sucre (constitutional) - making Bolivian governance uniquely distributed.
