Boozy

/ˈbuːzi/ adjective

Definition

containing or involving a lot of alcohol; drunk or smelling of alcohol.

Etymology

From 'booze' (from Dutch 'buizen', to drink heavily), which came to English around the 14th century. The '-y' suffix was added to make an adjective around the 18th century.

Kelly Says

The word 'booze' entered English just as beer and wine became cheaper and more available in medieval taverns—the word itself smells like old pubs and feels delightfully old-fashioned.
