Definition
Members of the European royal House of Bourbon, or bourbon whiskey (a type of American whiskey).
Etymology
From Bourbon, a duchy in France named after its geographical location. The whiskey name came later (1800s) from Bourbon County, Kentucky, where this style of whiskey was allegedly first made.
Kelly Says
Bourbon whiskey is protected by U.S. law—only whiskey made in America from at least 51% corn and aged in new charred barrels can legally be called bourbon, similar to how champagne must come from France!
