Etymology

From Greek 'brady-' (slow) and 'phasis' (speech, utterance). The term describes pathologically slow speech production, similar to bradylogia.

People with Broca's aphasia—damage to the speech production area of the brain—often experience bradyphasia where they know what they want to say but their brain can't coordinate the muscles fast enough to say it.
