Definition
A genus of sloths; an animal characterized by slow movement.
Etymology
From Greek 'brady-' (slow) and 'pus' (foot). This Latinized form uses 'pus' instead of 'pous' and was used historically as a genus name.
Kelly Says
Bradypus is the three-toed sloth genus, and you can find this name in 18th and 19th-century naturalist texts before modern genetic taxonomy reorganized everything.
