Bribeable

/ˈbraɪbəbəl/ adjective

Definition

Capable of being bribed; describing someone or something that can be influenced by the offer of money or other rewards to do something wrong.

Etymology

From 'bribe' plus '-able' (a suffix meaning capable of). The word entered English in the 1600s as corruption became a documented social problem requiring specific vocabulary.

Kelly Says

Interestingly, studies show that people are often bribeable without realizing it—cognitive biases mean we accept gifts or favors that subtly influence our judgment in ways we don't consciously recognize.
