Definition
Somewhat bulky or having bulky qualities; somewhat large or taking up considerable space.
Etymology
From 'bulk' with the suffix '-ish', which means 'somewhat' or 'having qualities of.' The '-ish' suffix can soften or make qualities less absolute.
Kelly Says
The suffix '-ish' is charmingly vague—'bulkish' means bulky-ish, not quite fully bulky. We do this all the time with colors ('bluish,' 'greenish') and feelings ('foolish,' 'selfish'), letting us describe gradations rather than absolutes!
