Bulldogger

/ˈbʊldɔɡər/ noun

Definition

A person who participates in bulldogging, either a rodeo competitor who wrestles steers, or someone who pursues something or someone relentlessly with aggressive persistence.

Etymology

From 'bulldog' (the dog) + the agent suffix '-er' (one who does something). The term emerged from rodeo culture in the American West and has been extended metaphorically to describe any relentless pursuer.

Kelly Says

Some of the most famous bulldoggers in rodeo history were Black cowboys in the early 1900s, though many history books left them out—their athletic skill and bravery literally shaped what we now call the sport of steer wrestling.
