Definition
The quality or state of being busy; the condition of having a lot to do or being occupied with many activities.
Etymology
From Old English 'bysiġnes,' combining 'bysig' (busy) with the abstract noun suffix '-ness,' which creates nouns from adjectives. The spelling shifted with Middle English phonetic changes.
Kelly Says
Interestingly, 'busyness' has become a modern status symbol—people brag about being busy as if it means importance, when historically busyness often just meant you were a servant with endless chores.
