Cabirean

/kəˈbɪriən/ adjective

Definition

Relating to the Cabiri, ancient divine figures or demons in Greek mythology, or to their mysterious rites and worship.

Etymology

From Cabiri (from Greek Kabeiroi, of uncertain origin, possibly pre-Greek) plus -ean suffix. The Cabiri were worshipped particularly in Samothrace and their name remains etymologically mysterious.

Kelly Says

The Cabiri cults were so secretive that even ancient Greeks didn't fully understand their own mystery rites—initiation into their worship was supposed to grant special favor in life and afterlife.
