Carmanians

/kɑːrˈmeɪniənz/ noun

Definition

Plural of carmanian; relating to or inhabitants of Carminia or Carmania, an ancient region of Persia (in modern-day Iran), or the people who lived there.

Etymology

From Carmania (ancient Persian region) + '-ians' (inhabitants). Carmania was known to classical Greek and Roman writers as a distinct geographic and cultural territory southeast of Persia proper.

Kelly Says

The Carmanians inhabited a region that was so strategically positioned on ancient trade routes that they became wealthy middlemen between Persian, Indian, and Arabian merchants!
