Centipedal

/sɛnˈtɪpɪdəl/ adjective

Definition

Relating to or resembling a centipede, or having many feet or foot-like appendages.

Etymology

From Latin 'centipeda' (hundred-footed), formed from 'centum' (hundred) + 'pes' (foot). The suffix '-al' makes it an adjective describing things that have the characteristics of a centipede. Originally used to describe the actual creature, it was later applied metaphorically.

Kelly Says

Centipedes don't actually have 100 feet—the name is just a guess ancient people made because they have SO many legs that counting them seemed impossible!
