Definition
Relating to or characteristic of cephalopods in structure or behavior.
Etymology
From Cephalopoda + '-ic' (adjectival suffix). This suffix creates an adjective meaning 'of or relating to,' a very productive suffix in English that attaches to virtually any noun.
Kelly Says
English has multiple ways to make adjectives from the same noun—'cephalopod,' 'cephalopodan,' and 'cephalopodic' are all technically correct, but scientists prefer 'cephalopodic' when discussing specific characteristics or features.
