Definition
Relating to or affected by chemosis (an accumulation of fluid in the eye tissues, causing swelling).
Etymology
From chemosis (from Greek chysis 'pouring' + -osis 'condition') + -ic adjectival suffix. A medical term used in ophthalmology dating to the 19th century.
Kelly Says
Chemotic is one of those words doctors use that sounds intimidating but simply describes what happens when a patient's eye gets puffy and swollen from fluid buildup—often from allergies or infection.
