Definition
A plant mutation or condition where floral parts become green or leaf-like instead of developing their normal colored structures.
Etymology
From Greek 'chloros' (green) + 'anthos' (flower) + -y (noun suffix). A botanical term for abnormal green coloration in flowers.
Kelly Says
Chloranthy shows how fragile the genetic instructions for flower colors are—sometimes a tiny mutation makes petals turn green, and botanists study it to understand flower development!
