Circuitry

/ˈsɜːrkɪtri/ noun

Definition

The system of electrical circuits inside a device, including the paths and electronic parts that let electricity flow and do work. It is what makes electronic devices like phones and computers function.

Etymology

From "circuit," from Latin "circuitus" meaning "a going around" (from "circum" meaning "around" and "ire" meaning "to go"). "Circuitry" is a modern extension referring to the network of these "go-around" paths for electricity.

Kelly Says

The word still remembers that electricity is basically a traveler that must go in loops—no complete path, no power. Inside your phone is a tiny city of roads (circuitry) where electrons "commute" at almost the speed of light.
