Collinear

/kəˈlɪnɪər/ adjective

Definition

Lying on the same straight line; points or objects that are positioned so they form a single line.

Etymology

From Latin 'col-' (together) and 'linearis' (of a line), meaning positioned together on one line.

Kelly Says

Collinear points are so important in computer graphics and navigation that programmers constantly check if points are collinear—if they are, the computer can take a shortcut because no 2D space exists between them!
