Definition
An archaic or poetic form meaning to complete, accomplish, or bring something to fulfillment.
Etymology
From Old French 'compliss-' (stem of 'complir'), derived from Latin 'complere' meaning 'to fill up' or 'complete.' This form appears in Middle English before the standard 'accomplish' became dominant.
Kelly Says
This is the ancestral form of our word 'accomplish'—Middle English poets sometimes used 'complish' for its poetic brevity, but the form died out as 'accomplish' standardized around the 14th century.
