Definition
A person or entity that grants a concession or right to another; the party making the concession.
Etymology
From Latin concessor, derived from concedere (to grant). Parallel to the English -or agent suffix, meaning 'one who concedes or grants.'
Kelly Says
In colonial history, concessors were typically governments or monarchs—they held the power to hand out mining rights, land grants, or trading monopolies. The word captures a one-directional power relationship.
