Confident

/ˈkɒnfɪdənt/ adjective

Definition

Confident describes someone who feels sure about their abilities, decisions, or chances of success. It can also mean being certain that something is true.

Etymology

From Latin 'confidēns', present participle of 'confīdere' ('to trust completely'). The word came into English through French, keeping the idea of strong inner trust.

Kelly Says

Confidence isn’t the absence of doubt; it’s the decision not to let doubt be the boss. People often become confident not before they act, but after surviving a series of imperfect attempts.
