Definition
A conclusion or consequence that follows logically from something stated before.
Etymology
From Latin 'consectarius' (following), derived from 'conectere' (to connect or join together), from 'com-' (together) + 'nectere' (to bind). Used in logic and philosophy since the 16th century.
Kelly Says
Philosophers love this word because it describes how one idea necessarily leads to another—if you accept the first statement, the consectary automatically follows, like dominoes falling in logic.
