Coparallel

/koʊˈpærəlɛl/ adjective

Definition

Running side by side and maintaining equal distance; parallel to something else that is also parallel.

Etymology

From co- (together) + parallel (from Greek para-, beside + allelos, one another). The prefix co- was added in English to describe things that are parallel together or in relation to each other.

Kelly Says

The prefix 'co-' is doing some heavy lifting in older English—it was used much more liberally to describe shared or mutual qualities, but most of these co-words have faded away, making coparallel a linguistic time capsule.
