Definition
A French oath or exclamation used to express surprise or annoyance, literally meaning 'blue crow' or 'blue raven.'
Etymology
From French 'cor bleu,' a minced oath that substituted for 'sacrebleu' (sacred blue), which itself was a euphemism for religious curses. The 'cor' comes from 'corps' (body).
Kelly Says
This is a minced oath—Europeans used to swear by saints and religious things, so they'd mutter weird substitute words to avoid actual blasphemy, and 'corbleu' was their creative solution!
