Corybantic

/ˌkɒrɪˈbæntɪk/ adjective

Definition

Wildly excited, frenzied, and uncontrollable in movement or behavior; resembling the ecstatic dances of the Corybantes.

Etymology

From the Corybantes (Κορύβαντες), ancient priests of the goddess Cybele who performed wild, ecstatic dances with clashing cymbals, drums, and horns to induce trance states.

Kelly Says

Ancient priests who danced SO wildly they went into TRANCES! Banging drums, clashing cymbals, spinning until they transcended their bodies! When a mosh pit gets really wild, it's going CORYBANTIC! 🥁🌀
